Substance Use

This report contains information about alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use (referred to as ATOD use throughout this report) and other problem behaviors of students. The bars on each chart represent the percentage of students in that grade
who reported the behavior. The three sections in the charts represent different types of problem behaviors. The definitions of each of the types of behavior are provided below.

-Ever-used is a measure of the percentage of students who tried the particular substance at least once in their lifetime and is used to show the percentage of students who have had
experience with a particular substance.

-30-day use is a measure of the percentage of students who used the substance at least once in the 30 days prior to taking the survey and is a more sensitive indicator of the level of current use of the substance.

-Heavy use includes binge drinking (having five or more drinks in a row during the two weeks prior to the survey) and use of one-half a pack or more of cigarettes per day.
