What is Every Woman Matters?
Every Woman Matters is a program that can help you pay for your annual health check-up. The program is for women between the ages of 40 and 64 who meet income eligibilty guidelines.-Since its inception in 1991, EWM has screened 60,253 women, diagnosed 781 breast cancers and diagnosed 60 invasive cervical cancers.
-In 2006-07 the EWM program screened 9,992 individual women, of which 465 are at or below the Federal poverty guidelines.
-72% of all EWM clients report having no medical insurance coverage, with 87% of new enrollees having no medical insurance.
-Since its inception in 2001, the EWM program,WISEWOMAN (Well-integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) has screened 13,939 women and diagnosed 1,496 new cases of hypertension, 1,497 new cases of high cholesterol and 335 new cases of diabetes
-New in 2005, the Colorectal Cancer Screening program has enrolled 2,000 people, including 165 men.
-130 people have been referred for colonoscopy.
What does Every Woman Matters pay for?
-Pelvic exam with a Pap test-Clinical breast exam
-Teaching of breast self exam
-Blood pressure check
-Cholesterol check
-Blood sugar (glucose) check
-Mammogram
